If you are reading this blog post, you found my website! Thank you for taking the time to hang out.
I love this kind of composing and connecting. I’ll be writing, mainly, on spiritual direction (like what and why), Howard Thurman (then and now), The Black Madonna (cosmic and practical), and what these topics mean in a world still fighting for democratic forms of. leadership. There will be a catch-all category, for my other interests because let’s be real, I’m a thinking Black woman, who even when dancing and friending, is composing thoughts about friendship, culture, religion, and politics!
My influences are Toni Morrison, James Baldwin, Mary Oliver, Cole Arthur Riley, Reinhold Niebuhr, too many womanists and Black feminists to name (but they shall be named!), and the everyday people like my family who keep me inspired to live. I’m going to be upfront. I am a preacher by trade, so if these notes begin to sound like sermons sometimes, just say, “amen!” I won’t be long! But I may come down your street!
Hopefully, you will experience belonging, freedom, and inspiration here, even when you hold a different perspective, or disagree outright. Sign up for the newsletter and these will come to your email, fresh, just as the ink is drying. Feel welcome to forward these to people with whom you share community.
Finally, as we watch one world dying, we witness another one being born. Howard Thurman reminds us that such is the growing edge. With that being said, its Spring, and just the right time to celebrate new life. Put your hands together for a place where the
olive groves overflow with fruit and where the oil heals, seasons, and sizzles. Let’s write a new chapter on being human at the edge of worlds.
